A creative journey to the rainforest and learn how to draw many rainforest inhabitants.  We will study how snakes wind themselves around trees, how sloths hang upside down and what lurks in the shallow waters. The students were free to draw animals of their choice.  The first step will be drawing the animal in pencil, adding proportional leaves, vines, trees and flowers then outlining all pencil lines with a black waterproof marker.
Kids will learn techniques for rendering shadows, skin, fur, and more importantly accurate poses for each animal. They will study a wide variety of animals, including most zoo animals like gorillas and giraffes.  Kids will also learn about sea creatures and the differences in scaly skin. Birds are another topic of discussion since their feathers are often difficult to render for beginners.

Monika Dogra

Monika Dogra believes it takes two great passions to be an outstanding teacher – a passion for the subject, and a passion for teaching.  Working with Art has been her passion for over 25 years.  She is an artist, designer and has worked as a Montessori school teacher.  She gets greater joy by inspiring her students than teaching them.  Many of her students have found their art skills to be very useful in designing and presenting project work at school.
Monika excels in the area of teaching rich Indian heritage and culture through various traditional art styles viz. Madhubani, Warli, Kerela Murals, and Basholi/Chamba styles of miniature paintings.  Monika is also an Aptech certified teacher for graphic, multimedia, and animation designing.
