Over 1,000 people turned up this Sunday Jan 24 for the Grand Inauguration of Radha Govind Dham in Valley Ranch Irving.
The growing buzz in the Valley about this Center for Devotion, Education and Community brought families not just from the Valley Ranch community but from neighborhoods of Plano, Frisco, Flower Mound, Grand Prarie and more.
After the conclusion of the Purnahuti Pooja and Havan at 10:30am, the celebration began. A marching band and beautiful decorations of balloons welcomed visitors into the Center. Leaders of several Indian organizations attended this event to light the diyas and perform the first arti of the shrine at this Temple. Amidst a soulful chanting of Bhaju Radhey Govind, a beautiful cake was cut that was adorned with the flute held by Radha & Krishna.
A cultural showcase included dances glorifying Lord Ganesh, Narayan Strotram and Radhey Shyam as well as a charming Baal Krishna leela enactment by little kids cheerful and lively music band performance by the talented kIds of Radha Govind Dham Volunteer families. Within the performances, Shiksha teachers were also introduced to the community as the Grand Opening Event was also combined with the Open House of Shiksha – a Community School for Youth Enrichment. Following the cultural event, parents circled the Open House of Shiksha to talk with teachers and enroll their kids into the enrichment programs. Adults also were interested in the Yoga classes and Ayurveda activities offered by the center The enrollment into the different activities and the tremendous support from the community exceeded every expectation of the volunteers who worked tirelessly in the days prior to the event to ensure that the Grand Opening was Grand in every way.
